Does anyone else like Dolly Parton's music or any other country music? I also like Don Williams' and a few other people's music.

I'm not a huge Dolly fan but do like country music in general. I like a number of older artists who no longer record such as Don Williams, The Statler Brothers, Merle Hagart, Tanya Tucker, The Gatlin Brothers, and Emmylou Harris just to name a few. I also like a lot of new artists.

awww. Tanya Tucker. I saw her live in concert. She had tight red jeans on. mmm, what it would be like to party with her. mmmm

I've seen her in concert too. It was so funny because she was the opening act for Merle Hagart. Her portion of the show was upbeat with a lot of talking to the audience and mostly fast songs. Then after the intermission, Merle came out and said "Good evening" and then started singing one slow song after another with no talking at all. But I still loved his part of the show because his voice is truly unique. So it was a great show, just very different from one performer to the other.

Thom, you should get Tanya's autobiography called Nickel Dreams. She really has had a wild life.

Oh I love country Dolly is amazing and a very talented player and writer. I like old and new country as I have to sing both in my shows. buck owens, merlle Johnny cash,, alabama keith whitley, sara evans, leanne womack and Of course george strait are just a few of my many favorites. I most likely have about 700 country music disks in my collection.

I like country a lot, but mainly only the classic stuff.

Oh yeah, Tricia is a gem. No one sounds like her. There are so many singers out there who are virtual sound alikes for others it's hard to figure out who is singing sometimes.

I also like Don Williams and have a couple of Johnny Cash songs. I found today that there's a Johnny Cash radio station on the internet. The only thing is, I can't remember the website address because I only typed into google his name and that was one of the things that came up.

My favorite song of Dolly Parton's is "Coat Of Many Colors". I like most of her songs, but some of the fairly early ones are impossible to get hold of on CD.

I've never cared for Dolly--I don't like that high-pitched voice, at least not hers. Emmylou isn't a favorite for the same reason.

I, too, like classic country, but much older than the stuff being discussed here. *smile* Webb Pierce, Slim Whitman, Kitty Wells, Patsy, of course... lots from the 50s and 60s that's almost impossible to hear anymore on radio. The so-called classic country station here plays mainly 80s stuff, and it is scarcely country, much less classic, in my opinion.

I do like Don Williams, though! Lovely velvetty voice, he has. His song "Old Coyote Town" is one of my favorites, of his, very affecting, very sad.

Christina, I also have that song on cd.

Ooh, I'd love to hear it again, it's been years! When I got rid of all my tapes some years back, I never got around to replacing them with CDs.

Christina, I know what you mean about Dolly's voice. However, I differ from you in that I do like Emmylou even though I don't care for Dolly.

Alison Crauss and Alan Jackson sing good songs. Does anyone here in England listen to a country music program on Radio 2 on Thursday evening? I haven't listened to that for ages.
